Can anyone explain what pledging allegiance to the flag means ? No doubt another form of misguided patriotism. Why to the flag ? Why not to George Bush ? Or Arnold Thingy whose second name I can't spell. Imagine if we British elected some second rate actor to be Prime Minister ! Could be a good thing perhaps - Johnny Vegas would sort them all out !

Religious crap !
I am sick to the teeth of Republicans yelling out "God Bless America" and waving flags. What a load of shite. I'm an atheist (thank God !!), but if God did exist I'm sure she would be very much inclined to shoot down a few thunderbolts on to Madison Square Gardens. The hypocrisy of it all sickens me.

ReplyDeleteI don't know why you care what USAns pledge to, but the Pledge was developed for the Boy Scouts, as I recall, around the second decade of the last century. I believe the guy was a socialist. Like it better now?
