Why We Drive on the Left !

We drive on the left (in the UK) so that it is easier to protect ourselves from on-coming riders - at least that was what we did several hundred years ago ! The assumption was that the majority of people were right-handed and therefore would use their sword in their right hand. Thus any rider who approached would be easier to fend off successfully - picture it for yourselves. Since then we have seen no reason to change !
